Travel back through time aboard our restored diesel locomotive on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. You’ll climb through the Allegheny Mountains on the Western Maryland #501, a GP30 built in the 1960's, easily recognizable due to its high profile and stepped cab roof, unique among American locomotives. A narrator will be on-board to provide you with interesting historical facts and significant cultural locations along the route to Mountain View.
A variety of seating options are available on our Mountain Limited excursions. Please check the schedule to see what options are offered on the date that you would like to join us. Due to the historic nature of our equipment, limited handicapped seating is available. Please call our office to discuss your needs.
Learn more about our four classes of service below:
Standard Coach is our most affordable, but still comfortable seating (padded, high-back, bench-style seats). Great for families or groups. Open seating – first come, first serve.
Premium Coach is similar to airline seating. These seats recline slightly and have a footrest. Reserved seating; reservations recommended.
Lounge Car provides more private seating. Snacks and a cash bar are available. Reservations must be made no later than one week prior to the excursion date.
First Class includes lunch aboard one of our beautifully restored dining cars. Meals are prepared on-board and served on the way to Mountain View. Dessert is served on the return trip to Cumberland. Reservations must be made no later than one week prior to the excursion date.
For any ticket option that includes lunch, guests will be given a choice of entrees at the time the reservation is being placed. All menu selections must be made at this time. Changes may be made until one week prior to departure date.
Cancellations must be made at least one week prior to departure date for full credit which can be used for up to one year. Cancellations after that will be given credit for the cost of the ticket only which can be used for up to one year. Food costs cannot be credited due to commitments already in place.
